Riyadh Season face mask update: fireworks at night on Riyadh Boulevard

Riyadh Season returns to full capacity and updates mask policy

The changes follow the Kingdom easing most COVID restrictions

Riyadh Season has updated its COVID procedures following the Kingdom dropping most COVID-19 restrictions recently. Riyadh Season is returning to full capacity and welcoming non-masked visitors outdoors.

In line with the changes, Riyadh Season attendees will no longer be required to wear face masks in all open areas.

The change follows an official source at the Ministry of Interior announcing on Saturday March 5 that many COVID restrictions were lifted in the Kingdom, effective immediately. One big difference is physical distancing rules no longer apply with Saudi “suspending the application of social distancing measures in all open and closed places, activities, and events”.

Some COVID-19 preventative measures still remain place. Face masks are no longer required in open areas, but it is still mandatory to wear them in closed places.

In 2020 Riyadh Season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. It made a triumphant return for the 2021 to 2022 season, following a successful vaccination programme in the Kingdom.

Just before the opening on the most recent Riyadh Season, Saudi Arabia had eased its COVID-19 requirements so masks were no longer mandatory in open spaces, provided that you had been double-jabbed with an approved vaccine.

Those who were double-dosed had to show their immune status on arrival to the Riyadh Season entrance gate, as well as to any zone or event. The Kingdom’s coronavirus rules later changed due to the Omicron variant, and masking rules were tightened, and the booster become mandatory. In turn, Riyadh Season updated its policies to be in line with the Ministry of Interior’s protocols.
