Saudi has officially announced a new national women’s football team: the U-17.
The new national women’s football team, the Under-17 squad, is the third female-focused footie team in the Kingdom.

A total of 28 players were selected to join the first training camp. The premiere training took place until Saturday February 4 with the second training camp scheduled to take place this coming weekend in the capital from Thursday February 9 until Saturday February 11.
Six out of the 28 players selected for the Saudi Arabia U-17 team were from the Women’s Premier League and five of the players participated in the Women’s First Division League.
The squad was selected following try-outs at three of the country’s Regional Training Centres in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.
The centres welcomed girls from the age of six three times a week with a total of 300 talented players competing for a spot.
With the news of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Al Nassr, the presence of football in the city has accelerated. In the spirit of sports, Saudi recently won the bid to host the AFC Asian Cup, and the Kingdom will also host the Asian Winter Games in the futuristic ski resort in NEOM, TROJENA.
Saudi also celebrated the first Saudi female international referee to be appointed by FIFA and is in on the bid to host the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in 2026. Securing a list of firsts, we’re hoping to have that win in the bag.
