COVID-19 update: Unvaccinated travellers can enter Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Health shared the updated COVID protocol

The Ministry of Health announced that unvaccinated travellers are now being allowed in the Kingdom.

Travellers are no longer required to show their immunisation status on arrival to the Kingdom. PCR testing is no longer required to enter the Kingdom, and a 10-day home and institutional quarantine has also been axed.

This comes after the drop COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia, with the rate now being as low as four percent. The easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Saudi Arabia follows a strong vaccination programme with high immunisation and immunity rates. The immunisation rate is now a whopping 99 percent for citizens aged 12 and above.

Saudi Arabia has made sweeping COVID-19 restriction changes recently, with a number of protocols being dropped. The updates include face masks no longer being required in open areas as part of the updated restrictions for COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia, however, wearing masks is still mandatory in closed areas and indoors.

Another major change is physical distancing rules no longer apply. The latest Saudi COVID-19 restriction lift includes “suspending the application of social distancing measures in all open and closed places, activities, and events”.
