Parking in Qatar: How much does it cost?

While International supporters initially had to pay QAR5,000 to drive their own vehicle to Qatar for the world come, it is now free-of-charge for GCC citizens and residents.

Arrivals passing through the Abu Samra border will still require a vehicle entry permit for any crossing made between November 1 and December 23.

This exceptional entry permit will only be granted to fans with confirmed accommodation for at least five nights.

Additionally, those planning to head to Qatar through Saudi will also be required to purchase car insurance for SAR138 for a week on their private vehicles.

Parking in Qatar: How to get a permit

To get your hands on one, you need to apply through the Hayya platform.

If approved, you need to obtain vehicle insurance within 24 hours and you’re set to go.

The only disclaimer: it does not apply to citizens, residents and GCC nationals who have a Qatari ID card driving a vehicle with local number plates.

Parking in Qatar: Where to leave your vehicle

To make the trip and see your favourite team in action, you can park up and catch a bus.

But don’t forget to pre-book a space, otherwise you risk missing out. You can pre-book a parking space through the Hayya app or through the website hayya.qatar2022.qa.

Parking will be free for the first 24 hours, however, a service fee of QAR1,000 will be required on the second day. Keep in mind that your car will be towed if parked for over 48 hours.

You can also catch a bus into Doha Central Station (Al Messila) – and the Doha Metro is set to run between 6am and 3am from Saturday to Thursday with Friday services running from 9am to 3am.

At peak times, there will be trains every 2.75 minutes.

There will also be more than 18,000 taxis available to book throughout the tournament, Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy has confirmed.
