World Cup’s official opening credits revealed by FIFA

New clip shows off some of Qatar’s most iconic attractions

There are just 18 days to go until the World Cup kicks off in Qatar.

And now FIFA has unveiled the official opening credits.

Captioned “Get ready to see plenty of this in a couple of weeks”, the 40-second clip begins with a group of Qatari children playing football on a platform above the desert dunes.

The clip then shows off two of the World Cup stadiums – Khalifa International and Education City – before taking viewers through some very familiar sights for Doha residents.

These include the iconic arches of Al Bidda Park, Al Fanar near Souq Waqif, the Museum of Islamic Art, the Doha skyline and the National Museum of Qatar.

Over the course of the video, you’ll get to see all eight stadiums, including Stadium 974, Al Janoub, Al Bayt, Ahmad bin Ali, and Al Thumama, but blink and you’ll miss them.

Fittingly, the clip finishes in Lusail Stadium – the venue that will host the World Cup final on Sunday December 18.

Pay close attention and you’ll also see clips of unforgettable World Cup moments, with teams lifting the trophy in previous tournaments.
