Looking for your next culture outing? If you’re after something new to explore in Riyadh, get ready because Diriyah Art Futures will be open to the public very soon. It’s not only Saudi Arabia first digital arts centre, but the first artistic educational centre dedicated to digital arts in the world.
The Diriyah Gate Development Authority announced “the imminent opening of the Diriyah Art Futures” on social media on Monday May 9.
What is a digital art centre, you ask? Diriyah Art Futures aims to promote and enhance the world of digital arts by equipping artists with the right tools and opportunities. It also aims to form bridges between artists and their audiences.
Diriyah Art Futures is an actual space in the physical world that we will hopefully soon be able to visit – and quite a large one at that. Designed by Italian architect Amedeo Schiattarella, Diriyah Art Futures is nearly 10,000 square metres. Over the sprawling space, there will be six art studios, workspaces for artists, dedicated rooms workshops and classes in arts and technology, a library, and a shop which will specialise in arts and art tools.

Diriyah Art Futures will offer four areas of education: an arts and artificial intelligence programme, creative computing, a centre for new media and contemporary art research, and machine learning. Feeling inspired yet?
Machine learning will be focused on teaching artists all about algorithms, digital arts programmes, photography, film productionand audio arts.
Into hackathons (design sprint-like events focused on graphic design or computer programming)? Diriyah Art Futures will offer cyberspace and libraries hackathons, plus, there will be seminars and multiple activities related to the digital arts.
Diriyah is all set to be the next cultural hub of Saudi Arabia, with the Diriyah Biennale being Saudi’s first contemporary art biennale, and Diriyah Art Futures being inaugurated soon, we can’t wait to see what’s next. Keep it on Time Out Riyadh for all the art and culture news.
