Vroom, vroom, ladies. Rally Jameel is speeding into town and we couldn’t be more excited. It begins on Wednesday March 16 and is one of the first all-women driving rallies in Saudi Arabia.
Started by Abdul Latif Jameel Motors and Bakhashab Motorsports, and sanctioned by the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation, the multiday off-road rally will not be focused on speed, but on navigational skills. Each course will cover between 300 and 500 kilometres per day, and to keep it as fair as possible, each track will only be revealed the night before.
The rally goes from Wednesday March 16 to Saturday March 19 and will cover many incredible sights across Saudi Arabia from Al-Qassim city to Riyadh, and beyond.

Want to apply? Registration for Rally Jameel will be open to all national and international females aged 18 and older who hold a driving license accepted in Saudi Arabia. Each team will be made up of two female racers.
If you’re wondering about your vehicle, no special equipment is needed. In fact, all the cars are required to be totally unmodified. The only pre-requisite is that the vehicle must be a 4×4 or AWD.
Entries close on Tuesday March 1 and the full rally schedule will be announced on International Women’s Day: Tuesday March 8.
Once you’re successful in your application, you will receive a weekend training course and three days of competition, as well as accommodation in five-star hotels, a secure camp, food and beverages, a finishing ceremony, and even tickets to a gala dinner.
Worried about safety? Each vehicle will be equipped with a state-of-the-art tracking system complete with SOS buttons. A helicopter medic and maintenance teams will also be on standby.
The motorsport scene really seems to be heating up (literally) here in Saudi Arabia, with Jeddah previously hosting the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix (Formula 1) and Riyadh hosting Formula E for the last three years. Stay tuned to Time Out for the latest on anything and everything Riyadh.
