Curious about Eid in Saudi Arabia? Eid marks the end of Ramadan, a 29 or 30-day period of daily fasting and reflection for those observing. Eid-al-Fitr is one of the two festivals Muslims have each year. The name itself translates to “Feast of Breaking the Fast”. Eid falls on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar. Every year, the dates of Eid and Ramadan vary depending on when the crescent moon (hilal) is sighted by Saudi Arabia’s moon sighting committee.
