The Dubai-based BB Social is joining the list of restaurants expanding into Saudi Arabia. It will be bringing its modern eastern cuisine to Riyadh and partnering with Huna, a space in Riyadh designed to become a home for local talent.
The Riyadh location, which is set to open before the end of the year, is just outside Panorama Mall. The fashionable landmark, Huna, is spread over 1,800 square meters and it’s a hub where start-ups, freelancers and entrepreneurs can meet, work, socialise and eat.
BB Social, as the name suggests, is a social setting, which offers bao, bites, bowls and barbecue plates that are inventive, creative and cool.
Alex Stumpf, executive chef and co-owner of BB Social Dining, says, “Panorama Mall is a city landmark, and more particularly Huna, a social hub devoted to art, entrepreneurship and food”.
Stumpf elaborated: “The first stop will be BB Social Riyadh, due to its population base and it being the capital city in Saudi. We do not want to be limited, so we are looking at opening two to three more Saudi locations in the future.”
When it comes to popular cuisine in the country, Stumpf reckons the tastes are diverse and that there’s a space for BB Social. He adds, “I think local cuisine is extremely popular and anchored in tradition. However, a continuation of Far Eastern, with Asian, specifically Japanese cuisine, still taking the forefront, whilst a Mediterranean based cuisine is now also trending.” Get ready for some banging baos, Riyadh.
