UAE homegrown cult-favourite burger spot, Pickl, is expanding to Saudi Arabia. Launched just two years ago in Dubai’s JLT neighbourhood, Pickl now has six outlets in the emirate with two upcoming launches in Abu Dhabi this year.
Ashley Griffiths, the chief licensing officer at Pickl, says, “We’re proud to be born in Dubai but I have been so impressed on my recent visits to Saudi. They really know their food and have got some amazing brands. I feel that expanding to Saudi Arabia just makes strategic sense. I think we can replicate the success we have here, over there, as long as we have a good franchise partner.”
“There have been huge amounts of change in Saudi. From political shifts to new business developments. So getting in now and getting over there at this point in time, is the right thing to do. The country is on an exciting adventure and we want to be part of it,” he said.
“It feels like Saudi is now where the UAE was a few years ago,” Griffiths noted. “The excitement and the potential are why we want to be part of that. Launching in Saudi is going to be an incredible journey for us.”
Pickl’s growth will not stop with Saudi Arabia. The brand has big plans to expand to 200 stores in the next five years.
