Saudi Founding Day: 5 restaurants to visit

Bringing you the latest on all the restaurants that are in on the celebration

So you’re planning the perfect day off, you’ve got the facts, you’ve got the things to do on Saudi Founding Day sorted, the only thing you’re struggling with is food, where do you go to end your day on a delicious note? Time Out’s got your back.

Here are the top spots serving up Saudi Founding Day specials.

56th Avenue Diner at Hyatt Regency Olaya

If you’re looking to carry the traditional spirit from the day into your foodie location, this is your spot. Enjoy traditional Saudi food buffet-style with Arab music playing in the background. It will also have a traditional Saudi corner, too.

Tue Feb 22. SAR265 per person. Olaya Street, Riyadh, hyattrestaurants.com (11 288 1234).

Goji Kitchen at Mariott DQ

Sleeping in is a given on any holiday, that’s why Goji Kitchen is serving a great afternoon brunch buffet that features an amazing array of Saudi flavours. Start your day off on the right foot (and the right bite).

11.30am-4pm. Abdullah Alsahmi Street, Al Safarat , marriott.com (11 477 9300).

Hotel Cartagena

This cool new spot has an interesting piece of history attached to it, it was founded in the 1950s and was passed on to Mrs Buendia when her father suddenly contracted a random strain of cholera on his travels around Latin America.  As you can imagine, the cuisine is very much inspired by Latin America. It will be providing cool live entertainment by Kilo 77, along with tasty dishes like smoked veal empanadas and lamp chops too.

February 22. 7.30pm. Prince Turki Ibn Abdulaziz Al Awwal Rd, Al Malqa, hotelcartagenariyadh.com

Milwan at Le Meridien

End your day on what seems to be a perfect note. Milwan is serving up a delicious international buffet which also features traditional Saudi dishes and a signature welcome drink when you enter.

SAR185. 6.30pm-11.30pm. Ibn Abdulaziz Road, Al Woroud District, King Abdullah, instagram.com/lemeridienriyadh (011 826 6666).

Yauatcha Riyadh

A Chinese dim sum restaurant by nature, Yauatcha is one of the prettiest spots on this list. The beautiful interior includes cherry blossom trees and a gorgeous rooftop view of the city. Yauatcha will be celebrating with their signature dumplings, amazing music, and more. Looking for a non-traditional spot to enjoy the day? Make a beeline for Yauatcha.

Open daily 12pm-11.30pm. Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Rd, Al Olaya, instagram.com/yauatchariyadh.
