Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced that the ban on international flights will be lifted after January 1, 2021.
This will allow citizens to exit and re-enter the country through all land, sea and air ports – provided that all coronavirus-related precautionary measures are adhered to.
“The specific date and time for lifting the suspension will be announced 30 days prior to January 1, 2021. The Ministry of Health may, should it be required, request to put in place certain preventative health requirements for travellers and carriers during travel, and in the halls of airports, ports, and stations,” reported the Saudi Press Agency.
In addition to the ban being lifted in 2021, from Tuesday September 15 onwards “exceptional categories” of citizens and residents – including civil servants, those needing medical treatment and students – will be able to travel as long as they can provide a negative COVID-19 test.
