As Dubai became the first country in the Middle East to host an EXPO, Saudi Arabia hopes to follow in its footsteps. The kingdom recently announced its bid to host EXPO 2030, with hopes that it will be a culmination of Saudi Vision 2030‘s grand plans for the country.
Saudi Arabia gave us all some idea of what exactly EXPO 2030 would look like if the country won the bid. The exciting presentation highlighted the country’s ambitious plans to plant 15 million trees, create art installations on the street and create one of the world’s largest transport networks.

Five countries are bidding to host the event and Saudi Arabia’s competitors include Moscow, Russia; Busan, South Korea; Rome, Italy; and Odessa, Ukraine. During the bid, each country was given approximately 20 minutes to present to the Expo’s Bureau International des Expositions.
Fahd bin Saleh Al Rasheed, chief executive of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, said, “The transformation is not occurring only in Riyadh, it is sweeping the country. Riyadh will be more than ready to host the World Expo.”‘
He added, “Riyadh will be a perfect manifestation of what the World Expo aims to achieve to bring together the world’s best minds, ideas and solutions in order to continue humanity’s path for progress. As a first-time competitor, Saudi Arabia’s candidature represents an important and symbolic challenge for our nation and one that we will embrace with full commitment.” We are keeping everything crossed.
