Discover the biggest festivals in Time Out Riyadh’s latest issue

Make December count – check out our guide to MDLBeast Soundstorm and much more

This year has well and truly flown by, and we’ll soon be saying goodbye to 2021 – but not before another month of fun-filled activities and major festivals in Saudi Arabia.

Pick up a copy of the latest issue, which is on the shelves now, and you’ll be able to read our guides to these landmark festivals, MDLBeast Soundstorm, Red Sea International Film Festival and Riyadh Season (with its exciting restaurants).

This month, the beast goes on, as MDLBeast Soundstorm returns with more A-list DJs (David Guetta, anyone?) than you can shake a Polaroid at. If you want to know what Saudi looks like right now, Insta this: crowds of men and women dancing to records being spun – by women. We spoke to local female superstars, the oh-so cool Biirdperson and Cosmicat, about confounding stereotypes in the music industry.

And, as the Red Sea International Film Festival kicks off, discover how Saudi Arabia, with the beauty of AlUla and buzz of Riyadh, is ready for its close-up. We looked at the history of cinema in the kingdom, from the opening of cinemas to homegrown filmmakers.

Plus, the latest issue is bursting with exciting interviews. We spoke to Matthew Kenney about working with Prince Khaled on the new plant-based restaurant, Folia. DVLZGame shared the five games that changed his life. While the filmmaker and designer, Chndy, shared his favourite things to do in Riyadh.

There are plenty of ways to make December count. Click here to read the December issue for the best things to do in Riyadh right now. Whether you’re after the latest restaurant reviews, film releases or travel inspiration, we’ve got you covered.

The times they are a-changin’ – happy reading and happy new year!
