Vroom vroom, Riyadh. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is returning to the historic desert grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Diriyah on January 28-29. It’s not just about the races, however, as there is an exciting musical line-up that has been announced and it includes James Blunt and Wyclef Jean.
First up, you’ll have the pleasure of listening to the Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, James Blunt. You may have heard his major hits like Time of Our Lives and, of course, You’re Beautiful. Blunt boasts an incredible 17-year career in the music industry and will be bringing his music to the capital for the first time.
While the three-time Grammy winner, rapper Wyclef Jean, has also been announced. Founder of the Fugees, the hip-hop group formed in the 90s, Jean found massive fame as a solo rap star. With hits like Killing Me Softly With His Song and Gone Till November, he’s set to wow the Diriyah crowd.
The racing scene here in Saudi Arabia is definitely heating up, as it’s only one month after the historic Formula 1 race took place in Jeddah.
In 2018, Riyadh hosted a Formula E race for the very first time. Since then there were two more action-packed adventures in 2019 and 2021. The race takes place at the Riyadh Street Circuit, and the track is 2.495 km in length and features 21 turns.
And if you’re looking to catch your breath, the event will also feature the opening of Jahez Village, which will provide cultural festivities, food and retail experiences for people of all ages to enjoy.
