AlUla launches Hegra After Dark

You can now see the UNESCO World Heritage Site in a whole new light

Saudi Arabia is home to some of the most extraordinary heritage sights. If you need any convincing, just check out AlUla as it’s packed with historical wonders. Best of all, it boasts the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra, which you can now view in a new light, thanks to Hegra After Dark.

As a part of AlUla Moments’, from November 4 visitors can have a memorable experience, as up to 3,000 battery operated candles will be placed by the entrance of one of Hegra’s tombs. Plus, the area, which is home to thousands of years’ of history, will be engulfed in the aroma of incense.

Are you sitting comfortably? Well you will at Hegra, as you can settle in on some rugs, floor cushions and low tables, then dig into locally-inspired snacks. Hegra after Dark has three parts: the first will awaken the senses of guests in a darkened sensorium to taste, hear, smell, touch and see what the Nabataeans experienced every day.

The second part will be an immersive performance that is inspired by a Nabataean warrior, which can be booked in English or Arabic. Then, guests can end the night with a stargazing experience and learn about astrology and cosmology as practiced in the Nabataean Civilisation.

Melanie De Souza, executive director of marketing, RCU, says: “Our heritage experiences are unique and special at any time of day, but as part of our AlUla Moments program, for a limited time, we are excited to invite visitors to enjoy Hegra After Dark. This is an evening of wow moments where visitors will enjoy an intimate sensory experience that takes them on a journey through time to the ancient Nabatean world of AlUla.”

Hegra After Dark takes place on the weekend and will continue for six weeks. With a limited number of attendees of 30 people per session, this is an opportunity to feel like you are a part of an exclusive experience.
