Riyadh, we have exciting news for you. There’s a cool new park opening right here in the heart of the capital, and while we’re not ones for wishing our lives away, this opening can’t come soon enough. Set to launch in 2024, King Salman Park will be one of the largest urban parks in the whole world, covering an impressive 13.3 kilometres on the grounds of the old airport.
King Salman Park is being designed to provide not just green spaces, but a comprehensive offering of sports, cultural and artistic activities for the people of Riyadh.
Here are three things to start looking forward to at King Salman Park.
The opening of the Royal Art Complex
We know the art scene here in Riyadh is huge, so this is definitely one of the most anticipated parts of the park. The complex will include a national theatre showcasing local movies, as well as seven museums, an outdoor theatre, four art academies, and an educational centre for children too. The seven museums include aviation, astronomy and space, science, a cool VR Museum, and so many more.
A sprawling royal golf course
Golf is on its way to becoming one of Saudi’s favourite sports, and at King Salman Park your voice is heard. The golf course inside the park will be roughly 850,000 square metres and will be one of the first in the city. In addition, there will also be a cool sports complex right next door that will cover 50,000 square meters. Get ready to have some fun.
Riyadh’s first skydiving centre
The first official skydiving centre in Riyadh will be located inside King Salman Park and we can’t be more excited. The centre will be fully equipped with trainers, so you don’t have to be scared. Also present in the park will be an equestrian centre and a VR court. Count us in.
Expected to be open by 2024. kingsalmanpark. sa
