Golf is having a moment in Saudi Arabia. It’s one of the fastest-growing sports in the Kingdom, thanks to the efforts of Golf Saudi to host and organise a variety of world-class events and inspiring initiatives. This blockbuster event, the PIF Saudi International powered by Softbank Investment Advisers is taking place from February 3-6 and sees some of the world’s greatest golfers come to the Kingdom.

The family fun-filled event will be staged against the stunning backdrop of the Red Sea in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). The event will showcase the most impressive golfing line-up in Saudi Arabia’s history, attracting global superstars from all corners of the world. Headline names include defending champion Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Reed, Tony Finau and Phil Mickelson.

This landmark event, which is new to the Asian Tour, will also see future stars of the game compete alongside up and coming Saudi talent in a bid to secure their share of the overall $5m prize.

Not only will fans be able to admire the beautiful golf course at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in KAEC and enjoy world-class golf, but they will also get the chance to attend fan zones filled with entertainment, music and activities. There will also be neon mini-golf, food trucks, golf performance zones and much more besides.

As part of its ongoing plans, Golf Saudi aims to get everyone excited about the sport. This all ties in with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which sees the Kingdom keen to invest in sports, in order to unite the domestic population, diversify lifestyles and improve its resident’s overall general health.

Majed Al Sorour, CEO, Golf Saudi, adds: “We have a truly world class international field assembling for the 2022 edition of the e PIF Saudi International powered by Softbank Investment Advisers. The mix of the world’s best players from across the US, Europe and Asia Pacific will make this year’s edition our most anticipated yet. Bringing together strong fields for our international men’s and women’s events has shown to play a vital role in driving participation and engagement in the sport in Saudi Arabia.

“Quite simply, our goal is to bring the game to as many Saudis as possible, so they are able to experience and enjoy first-hand the benefits and value of the sport. Golf Saudi aims to introduce, entertain and educate Saudis about golf. Our view is that when Saudi citizens play a sport, if they have fun, it is far more likely that they are going to come back, pursue it and potentially become future golfers and that is exactly what our Mass Participation programme aims to achieve.”

As a part of these aims, Golf Saudi encourages you to get involved. Before 2025, it aims to drive 3.5 million nationals to try golf for the first time, create 29,000 regular golfers, welcome 5,000 international golf tourists per annum and have over 135,000 school participants.

There’s a golfing activity for everyone. 2020 saw the creation of a Ladies First Club, which was conceived to introduce women to the game and saw over a thousand sign-up in just four days. That’s a whole lot of golfers.
