Keen to pick up a new habit, Riyadh? We have a brand-new sport in mind that we’re sure is going to hit the target. Want to live out your dream Katniss Everdeen moment? You’re in luck, as a fresh arena, simply called Archery Range, has opened in the capital.
Said Abdulaziz Almugairin, founder and owner of Archery Range SA, told Time Out: “Starting out wasn’t easy, as we have nothing to compare ourselves to. It was the right time to build everything from scratch. We built something special for Riyadh that is not available anywhere in Saudi and we’re proud to do that.”
Target practise
At Archery Range, instructors are on hand to guide you through every loose of your new weapon. The range even has male and female instructors and hosts separate training sessions for each.
Masters of the art provide step-by-step tutelage, which covers everything from stance to posture, allowing you to move forward and improve at your own pace – good for those of us who aren’t natural Robin Hoods.
If you’re looking for a quirky spot for your birthday party or work event, this place is an absolute bullseye. Archery Range can accommodate private parties and you can also rent out the entire space, which is good if you are consistently slinging stray arrows wide off the mark.
If that wasn’t enough, instructors can even come out to you to provide their expert input at your own range. If you find yourself hitting a bullseye, or at least wishing you could and want to continue practising, Archery Range sells a colourful range of targets and bows.
If you’re feeling a little extra, you can invest in a whole set which includes a crossbow,
10 arrows and a target. Just call us Hawkeye.
Letting off steam
But it’s not just precision sports that Archery Range is offering up – not by a long stretch.
If you find yourself quivering with stress (see what we did there?) after a long day at the office, be sure to take advantage of the range’s awesome smash room.
Piles of porcelain plates await, with visitors encouraged to scribble down what’s bothering them on the crockery before smashing it on the ground or floor.
For those who literally want to go hammer and tongs, Archery Range throws in the type of mallet Fix-It Felix would be proud to swing. Those plates never stood a chance.
You’ll be given all the necessary safety tools including gloves, helmets, masks and a full plastic body suit, to make sure the only things damaged during your destructive session are inanimate.
The best part? You don’t have to worry about tidying it all up afterwards.
