Who says vegan has to be dull? Wabi Sabi is fast becoming one of the capital’s most popular veggie hotspots, and it’s easy to see why. Down with millennials, it has plenty of personality.
Just one look at the menu and you know this place has a sense of humour as well as being health-conscious. Dishes like “Say cheese on toast”, “Wannabe tuna” and “I am falafel (Arab and proud)” all come with nutritional info on their ingredients’ holistic health-giving properties.
That humble cheese on toast combines feta cheese, nuts, tomatoes and cucumber to create a creamy little open sandwich, rich in B12. Want a gluten-free option? Just ask.
We also rate the lady and the tramp spaghetti. The oat balls infused with beans have a hard time masquerading as meatballs, but the sauce is both light and rich, and you can’t help but smile at the nod to the Disney classic.
The room benefits from two mirrored walls that make it feel extra spacious – book a table between the gold-trimmed bookshelves if you want a little privacy. It’s all about jungle chic when it comes to the interiors, thanks to the green seats, green counter for the open kitchen, and greener pot plants of all shapes and sizes scattered around.
Before you leave, head upstairs to check out the secret little shop, which sells everything from patterned abayas to cool artwork. Healthy has never been so fun.
