Ready to socialise? Then you’re likely heading to Huna Takhassusi in Panorama Mall. Born in Dubai and now bringing bites, bao, bowls, barbecue and big flavours to Riyadh, BB Social is a modern Asian-fusion spot (from Spero Panagakis, Shab Stumpf and Alexander Stumpf) that keeps things interesting. By that we mean whole soft-shell crab bao and baonut (a bao-doughnut hybrid) interesting.
The original Huna in Riyadh is so much more than a co-working space, with families and friends heading over for some good grub and to hang out post-work hours. The aptly named BB Social is a great fit for the communal space’s food hall.
There’s a mix of eateries at Huna, from Mexican to an avocado bar to a range of sweets (of course) and BB has plenty to tempt you over to its side of the space, whether you’re after a bite or something bigger.
Yellow cushions, wooden chairs and plants help divide BB Social from the other Huna eateries, and plates prove as colourful as the casual-chic décor. BB Social isn’t a small plates spot, but the options do lend well to sharing, which is fitting of the premise to be social. Although, we perfectly understand if you don’t want to share anything, including the big boy Habibti Bao Bun featuring an entire soft shell crab in a fluffy steamed bun. It’s generously portioned, but you will still be able to enjoy a few other options, such as the superfood salad or popular chopped kale tabbouleh.
While there are a variety of more virtuous plates to balance the heartier ones, we cannot forget about dessert. BB Social certainly gives it worthy attention. Even with the plethora of sweets at Huna, nowhere else is serving a baonut or the eatery’s popular Waffle Apple Pie: a waffle cone, melting vanilla and black sesame ice cream, apple wonton and caramel sauce that’s meant to drizzled over the top. The sweet treats are just part of the winning package.
No matter what you’re craving, call up your friends and family and say “Meet me @ BB”, just like the sign says at the Huna Takhassusi eatery.
