A giant ice rink is being plonked atop one of Paris’s hugest skyscrapers. From this week, the roof terrace of the Tour Montparnasse will be home to an ice rink. The 230-square-metre venue will be 210 metres above street level – making it the highest in the world.
Thankfully, it’s not quite as dangerous as it sounds. The rink, built by the company BOAZ Concept, has high sides and a decent barrier zone. It’s also got a “food corner” and, obviously, astonishing views out over the City of Light.
While the Montparnasse rink isn’t dangerous, it will almost certainly be bone-chillingly cold. So bring a coat (or few), some ski gloves, maybe a balaclava, and get ready to whizz around the ice. The skating doesn’t cost too much, either. Thirty-minute sessions cost between €11 and €23 (Dhs47-Dhs97), depending on age and method of payment.
The Montparnasse ice rink is open from February 5 to March 6, and you can buy tickets online here.
