When you think of the world’s finest places to stay, you’ve probably got some very fancy accom in mind. A turquoise island in the Seychelles. A charming mountainside hut in the Italian Alps. A majestic skyscraper in New York’s concrete jungle.
But did you know that officially the world’s best B&B is in a seaside town in North Yorkshire, England? That’s right. According to the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards (the results of which were recently released) the finest B&B in the entire world is Toulson Court in Scarborough.
Toulson was first crowned the world’s best B&B last year, with guests praising it for its superb breakfasts, particularly comfy beds, spotless cleanliness and fab amenities. Run by Angela and James Rusden, Toulson Court has an average rating of five stars out of over 1,700 reviews. Pretty impressive stuff.
Toulson Court is a few minutes’ walk from Scarborough’s dazzling Peasholm Park and is a short gander from the town’s marvellous sandy beach. It’s a top stay in one of England’s finest holiday hotspots.
That being said, TripAdvisor isn’t, of course, necessarily the most accurate or reliable measure of the best hotels or B&Bs in the world. As a user-led database, TripAdvisor often skews towards either negative reviews or towards establishments that actively encourage user feedback on the platform.
But that isn’t to take anything away from the Toulson. For more information and to check availability, see its website here.
