Hajj 2023 restrictions have officially been lifted.

Saudi is removing age limits and all COVID restrictions. The Hajj 2023 restrictions update was revealed by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on Monday January 10.

The Hajj 2023 update means a pilgrim capacity to normal without age restrictions for the first time since 2019.

Pilgrim limitations were put in place back in 2020, and were restricted to 1,000.

Further regulations were then announced for Hajj 2022, requiring pilgrims aged 18 to 65 to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Negative tests were also required.

Earlier this month, the Ministry announced that priority for Hajj 2023 will be given to individuals who have never performed Hajj before. Additionally, it was revealed that Umrah visas would be extended from 30 to 90 days for foreign pilgrims visiting Saudi.

COVID and age limits restrictions no longer apply for Hajj 2023.

Online applications for Hajj officially opened on Thursday January 5 for domestic pilgrims. Saudi residents and able to request a Hajj permit through the Nusuk app or website as well as the Hajj and Umrah website.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a pilgrimage to Makkah that every adult Muslim should make at least once in their lifetime if they have the means to.
