Paws, er, pause your current plans, because Riyadh Zoo opened at Riyadh Season 2022 on Tuesday November 8. If you’re looking to have a whale of a time with the family, this is the likely the Riyadh Season zone for you.
The zoo was first opened to the public in 1987, and is reopening for the Saudi Season with more than 1,300 animals from 190 different species across six subzones. Here’s everything to look forward to at the soon-to-be opened Riyadh Zoo zone at Riyadh Season.

Subzones
Ape Escape
Get ready for all the apes at this aptly named zone, as well as monkeys, chimpanzees and orangutans.
Enchanted Forest
In the subzone of Riyadh Zoo, things are sounding mighty magical with giraffes deer, llamas and other animals. There are also opportunities to feed some of the animals.
House of Pongo
Forget House of the Dragon, we have House of Pongo at the Riyadh Zoo zone. Learn about different types of monkeys.
House of Turtles
From monkeys to turtles, there’s a dedicated area to the popular reptile. Learn about the different species, enjoy interactive activities and perhaps even see which turtle is the fastest.
Malaz Bay
Say hello to a range of animals in the Malaz Bay. If you’re a fan of wild cats, this is the zone to head to first with Arabian leopard, jaguar and more housed here. Watch out for the birds, including owls and ostriches, too.
Pink Lake
We bet you can guess what this tropical area is about. The Pink Lake has a fountain and is filled with, yes, flamingos, as well as parrots. We hear there are seals here, too.
The Swamp
Wondering what’s lurking in The Swamp? Don’t be scared of the lagoon animals such as crocodiles and other wise predators.
Wild Adventures
Riyadh Zoo will also be home to huge African elephants majestic lions. The Wild Adventures area also holds more surprises for you when you visit.

Animal feedings
Wondering what’s for lunch? You can find out at Riyadh Zoo. See giraffes, kangaroos, monkey and rare white tiger feedings.
Climbing Wall
Located in the Enchanted Forest, you can attempt to climb to the very top of the the wall. It’s time to make like a monkey.
Lion Enclosure
Ride around the zoo and see the kings of the jungle. There is also a tug-of-war challenge at the Lion Enclosure. Are you intrigued?
Performances
Make your way to the main stage for live performances and even a musical animal parade.
Tiger Enclosure
In addition to the huge Lion Enclosure, there’s a dedicated tiger viewing area.
The Farm
Ever wondered what life is like on the farm? Head here and see the animals typically found on farms.
VR Experience
The Riyadh Zoo zone offers you the chance to meet animals in person and in the VR world. The virtual world is a good choice is there’s some creepy, crawly animals you prefer to keep a distance from. Additionally, if offers you a chance to “meet” even more critters.
Restaurants and café
With six subzones to cover, you’ll likely need some nourishment to get through them. There’s no need to have dinner with the lions. Instead you could head to Burger Roar, Which Watch Restaurant, Yellow Cab Restaurant, Shawarmer Fuel Restaurant, De Garden Café and G.Co Café.
