With Riyadh Season well underway, there is definitely a feeling of creativity in the air. Local and global talent is coming to the capital in the form of K-pop singers, Bollywood actors, and now even artists. We are excited to hit the streets as Saudi artist, Noura bint Saidan, has just unveiled an impressive mural that you can now check out in the capital.
Across the city during Riyadh Season, there are 16 large-scale pieces that celebrate famous figures from the Middle East. The artwork by Saiden includes a giant mural of the Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum and another of the Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez. Both of the artworks can both be viewed on the Boulevard in Riyadh.
The black and white painting of Umm Kulthum took 21 days to complete. During the process, Saidan had to learn how to operate a crane, so that she could reach the heights needed in order to paint on the wall.
While the painting of the Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez is an eye-catching creation, as it combines traditional street art with a floral design. Saiden is clearly proud of the creation, as she has already labelled this piece as one of her best artworks.
Speaking about her role, the Saudi artist says, “I am proud to be a Saudi woman who achieves her dreams, and I am proud that I am leading change.” She has already made a name for herself in Saudi Arabia’s art scene, as she is the founder of NS Art Studio and most recently collaborated with Neom.
