Artists of Tomorrow competition launches for children

Get creative while discovering new artistic mediums

Attention all kids, this one’s for you: The Visual Arts Commission in association with the Ministry of Education has just launched an Artists of Tomorrow competition for kids of all ages to discover mediums like drawing/painting, photography, and even sculpture.

Like to doodle as you daydream? Harbouring a hidden prowess with a paintbrush that the world needs to see? Whether you’ve been inspired by the Kingdom’s inaugural Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale and have aspirations to be Riyadh’s next big name or you simply enjoy the fun of covering a canvas in colour, there is an easel (or plate) with your name on it.

The Artists of Tomorrow competition aims to raise awareness about visual art, motivate students to discover their artistic skills, and more. The different levels include primary, elementary, intermediate, and high school, and each level will have a unique challenge designed for it.

The challenges for the Artists of Tomorrow include designing a mythical creature and a character, worldbuilding, and imagining life in 2060, respective to each level.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for General Education, Dr Muhammad Al-Meqbel, said: “These programs and projects contribute to enhancing the artistic values and aesthetic taste of students and encourage them to think, innovate and be creative.”
