Official match ball for the World Cup semi-finals and final unveiled

New ball is called Al Hilm, meaning ‘the dream’ in Arabic

By now, you will no doubt be very familiar with Al Rihla, aka ‘the journey’, the official match ball for the group stages of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

And now there’s a new ball for you to get familiar, Al Hilm, which will be used for the semi-finals and final of this year’s tournament.

Al Hilm, which translates as ‘the dream’ in Arabic, features a design set on a textured gold base colour with a subtle triangular pattern, which is meant to draw inspiration from the sparkling deserts of the region, the colour of the FIFA World Cup trophy, and the pattern of the Qatar flag.

The ball will use the same connected ball technology as Al Rihla, which has IMU sensors to support the semi-automated offside system.

Nick Craggs, general manager – football at adidas, said, “Al Hilm represents a beacon of light on the power of sport and football to bring the world together.

You’ll get to see Al Hilm in action during the semi-finals on Tuesday December 13 and Wednesday December 14, as well as the final on Sunday December 18.

Tue Dec 13-Wed Dec 13, Sun Dec 18, Doha.
