Riyadh table capacities have now doubled to 10 diners

Updated rules are effective now across Riyadh eateries, but only for vaccinated customers

Call up your mates, restaurant gatherings are back on. Well, almost. The Saudi Ministry of Municipal and Village Affairs has increased the number of people allowed to sit at one table in a café and restaurant from five to a generous ten. The Saudi Ministry said that the decision is effective immediately, but only affects fully vaccinated customers.

If you have been double vaxxed and your Tawakkalna app has been updated, then you can start selecting your nine dining buddies.

In Saudi Arabia, it is mandatory to download the Tawakkalna application, which highlights your vaccination status. When entering restaurants and cafes, you will be asked to show your status on the app. The ministry has also reminded customers to continue to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

Following the recent COVID-19 changes, if you haven’t been double jabbed, you won’t be able to participate in cultural, recreational, sports or tourism activities. While government establishments and public transport will also be off-limits.

As the country continues to vaccinate the population against COVID-19, the rules have been amended to reflect the kingdom’s progress against battling the virus. Currently, 20.1 million people, which is more than 57 percent of the population, have been fully vaccinated.
