German Future Perfect art exhibition hits Riyadh

The exhibition runs until March 3

Great news, Riyadh. The famed contemporary art exhibition Future Perfect has travelled all the way from Germany to Riyadh for our viewing pleasure. The exhibition is being shown at LÁrt Pur Gallery.

The title ‘Future Perfect’ does not imply that the future will be perfect, it is but the English version of the German tense ‘Futur II.’ It’s derived from the idea that the future even if imperfect will be complete.

The exhibition features 16 German artists who are well-versed in different mediums like film, photography, sculpture, objects, painting and collage. Future Perfect explores the many different visions of the future from the eyes of the artists.

The artists include: Nairy Baghramian, Mariana Castillo Deball, Cyprien Gaillard, Dani Gal, Das Institut (Kerstin Brätsch and Adele Röder), Annette Kelm, Jutta Koether, Armin Linke, Antje Majewski, Henrik Olesen, Yorgos Sapountzis, Nora Schultz, Nasan Tur, Danh Vo and Clemens von Wedemeyer.

Wondering where the exhibition is being held? LÁrt Pur Gallery is designed to resemble a museum rather than a gallery, this is 540 square meters of heaven for any art fan. The gigantic space exhibits some of the best pieces from young Saudi artists. The gallery dedicates itself to supporting local creative talent and gives them a place to showcase their work. It is certainly one of the best art galleries in Riyadh.

The exhibition is curated by Angelika Stepken, director of the Villa Romana, Florence
Philipp Ziegler, and head of the curatorial department ZKM, Karlsruhe. Count us in.

Until March 3. Open Sun-Thu 7pm-9pm. Closed Fri-Sat. LÁrt Pur Gallery, 352 Al Takhassusi Street, Al Gharbiyah Riyadh 12333, www.lartpurgallery.com (+966 55 271 7758).
